Week 5: Blog post 4: Using Evernote for teaching and learning:

I really like Evernote and what it can do for everyone, especially for those of us in the education field. I can see the benefits that it brings to a teacher to keep on track of things, but to me the feature that I really enjoy is the sync feature, because it can synchronize all my data between my laptop and my mobile device. Evernote is like a big file cabinet where I can store all the activities that I do on a daily basis. Also, it keeps me on track of my to-do list, because I have so many things going on that I need to keep track of everything that I do, so I won’t forget to accomplish the many things that I have to do during the day. I can see how as a teacher that can assist by keeping track of academic schedules, tests and assignment deadlines, as well. I can even keep emails, meeting notes, and even grocery list…I can’t go wrong with this great tool. It will be so easy for me to discover, retrieve, produce and distribute information between different platforms utilizing Evernote. In a nutshell, Evernote main function is the ability to add and capture information in numerous ways: Send Evernote an email with content and files attachments, upload text, voice messages and images, drag files from my computer to Evernote on my desktop, save a file to Evernote from the print dialog command, clip any web page or web content directly to Evernote while I surf, write text notes directly to Evernote, add photos directly from a camera, and add scans with ability to search them. I can capture any form of content analog or digital and by adding tags to items I can file them in folders and make them fully searchable. I learned how to create separate folders for things like blog post ideas, research for books, and projects, take notes and email ideas to Evernote as I visit an RSS reader, read email, and surf throughout the day so that I can ensure that everything gets captured. Also, it can be use as a tickler file by creating folders for each month of the year and adding reminders of future actions into each folder. So, now when I need to file reports or other assignments, I can put a reminder and add it to the to do list. Evernote has become the main tool for me to stay on track of work, because of its usefulness in every day of my life.

  1. Hi Enrique,

I seems like you really understand and learned how to use Evernote! You have many great suggestions of how to use it as an educator and as a personal organization tool. Like you, I also loved the idea of the ability to use it from any device with the ability to transfer the files to the computer, tablet or mobile phone. I liked that you also connected RSS into the Evernote by saving important information that you read from the Blogs.
